THE POEM
I knelt to pray but not for long,
I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work
For bills would soon be due.
So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My Christian duty was now done
My soul could rest at ease.....
All day long I had no time
To spread a word of cheer
No time to speak of Christ to friends,
They'd laugh at me I'd fear.
No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constant cry,
No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time, the time to die.
I went before the Lord,
I came, I stood with downcast eyes.
For in his hands God! held a book;
It was the book of life.
God looked into his book and said
"Your name I cannot find
I once was going to write it down...
But never found the time"

An electric bulb needs electricity to produce light. Once the switch is off or the current flow stops, the bulb stops giving light. Without the electricity the bulb is useless. In our day today life we hear about and see a lot of advancement in science and technology. But what if we miss “THE ESSENTIAL”? What is this, “ESSENTIAL???” It is nothing …but that spark which keeps everything going……….

Let me illustrate:

A kite flying in the sky cannot say that the thread which is tied to it is not necessary, that it can fly better without it… The moment it says that, and decides to fly without that fine thread, it will be flat on the ground.

When we look into our life, we understand that we have a beautiful life to live. But have we ever thought, what would happen to us, if we stopped breathing for a few minutes. Everything will be lost and lost for ever. We work very hard in life to get the best of everything, so that we may feel secure and happy in this world. And after gaining all that, the next day if we have to encounter some misfortune, what will happen to all that we have gained?

In the gospel (Lk 12:16-21) we read the “parable of the rich fool”. God says to the rich fool who stored up all treasures possible of earthly things and wanted to enjoy life; “You fool! This very night your life is being demanded of you. And the things you have prepared, whose will they be?”  (Luke 12:20). Poor man! Out of his hard work, he had earned so much, but he could not enjoy it… Something went wrong??? Where??? …. What is it???... It is nothing but the fact that he lost “The essential”!!!  What is this essential???

Let me answer you now……….it is “THAT SPARK – GOD”, that one which keeps the glow of one’s life going, whether you are a student or teacher, simple or great, rich or poor, young or old, everyone needs that spark in one’s life.

Without God’s Spirit in our life, the modern science and technology is useless. Modern science and technology can bring in, the best of medicines or treatment for any disease, but ultimately healing comes from God alone.

“With God You Are A Hero, Without Him You Are A Zero”
